Arm Supply
Signage nearly always amuses me. Unless it’s got terrible errors, like using apostrophes to make something plural. Those signs just piss me off.
There used to be a pharmacy here in Lubbock that had interesting items listed on its marquee sign. The best one I ever saw had “Toilet Paper – 12/$3 – Listerine – $1 – Wheelchair – $399.” Because mouthwash and wheelchairs are both impulse purchases.
But I digress.
This place, from what I read, is where you’d want to go if you need livestock or perhaps another arm or two. That’s good to know. I guess.

Since You’ve Asked
Maybe you recall that I mentioned before that sometimes random song lyrics latch themselves to photos, for no apparent reason?
It happened on this shot, when the line “leading up and outward” from the lovely Judy Collins song “Since You’ve Asked” came to mind.

An ad hoc arrangement
If you are the sort of person who appreciates orderly arrangements, even in alleys, this would not be a good place to go. There’s not one single thing here that looks like someone planned it; instead it has the feel of having just sprouted up, like weeds after a soaking rain.
Two things to note:
1. That window on the left really IS wonky; that’s not an unresolved lens issue.
2. Check out the concrete blocks holding up the meters!

Chapel
I stayed on campus when I attended a photography workshop earlier this summer in Santa Fe. The campus used to be a monastery, and there’s still a chapel on the grounds. Almost every afternoon, when I’d walk to my room, I could hear someone inside the chapel playing the flute. It was lovely, and calming. I wanted to go inside, to let the curve of that handrail pull me toward the music, but it felt like it would be an intrusion on the flautist. Instead, I walked a little slower, gaining a few more seconds of a serenade.
