The thing has great architecture and texture, nice find!!

Thanks, John. I found it in the former Pearl Brewery, which has been redeveloped as The Pearl, a nice mixed-use place. I think this contraption was used at the brewery.

Wow… talk about obsessive… as a sculpture it does rather hit it hard. And as a photo too.

It was used as a backdrop/sunscreen on a little plaza – it seems sort of “hard” for that job, though!

It has an over-engineered feel to it. Whatever it was for, you can bet that it did the job.
