Lace and an urn try to dress the place up
This little down just doesn’t have all that much going on downtown. So I really think the urn and the lace curtain really deserve a lot of credit for doing what they can to make the town look nicer.

The lace and urn seem as though they will outlast the benches. Though male of the species I love good lace.

Those benches do seem to be on their last legs! Also, you may be giving that lace a little too much credit by calling it “good lace” – maybe you were just speaking in general terms?

Did I ever tell you that “rick rack” is one of my favorite terms? I wish there were more opportunities to say it…

Rick Rack (or is it ric rac?) is a very nice word. Especially when used for architectural details – which is rarely the case anymore. I think you should see if your architect friends will start using it again. You could ask them, like every day, if they put any ric rac in their designs today. Until they do it. And that way you have an excuse to use the word every day, until they cave in to your pressure.
And btw, I checked. It is Ric-Rac according to Prof. Google.

I have a really good idea – we are about to issue a request for proposal for architectural services at work. I think when I write the RFP, I’ll put “must agree to the use of rick rack as prominent design element” as one of the main evaluation factors. Also, “must be adept at clever word play” is an important thing to consider.
(And I won’t even CARE how they spell r-r, just as long as they’ll agree to use it.)

Great plan – that will give you so many opportunities to say it: explaining to colleagues what the heck it means; justifying it to your boss (“but YOU don’t have a degree in architecture, so can it” or similar); and discussing the niceties of it with disbelieving bidders.
I just wrote all of that, without using the r-r word as I am not wanting to use it all up before you get your fill.

OK, but just so you know, this house is full of rick-rack of all kinds of sizes and colours. Every time I open a drawer it slithers out at me.

I think I saw some slithery rick-rack when I visited. I thought maybe you’d planted it around, to remind me of snakes so I wouldn’t be homesick.

Slithery Awning would be a good title for this picture. Or something like Awning Hiss.
We always have rick-rack in the guest room when Texans come to stay.

And actually, rick rack seems to be used a lot too, even by Mr. Wikipedia. So perhaps we can spell, and say, rick rac however we want.

What a question! Google schooled Wikipedia in infancy, and still schools it. Imagine Wikipedia without Google. It would be ignorant and poor and probably a religious fundamentalist tossing bombs at people that think wrong.

There’s a very remote possibility that I had a bit of Scotch earlier, which would account for the odd question.

What kind of Scotch might that be?

It might be Highland Park, single malt, 12 year. It might have a pleasant smoky flavor to it. I might have enjoyed it very much.

It helps with the scanning. Dust spotting pictures of ribbed metal siding is tedious. You will like some of them – not corrugated, but the modern equivalent.
