I think they found a shady spot so they could watch the traffic go by. All 5 vehicles per day. While smoking a doobie. Then they (inevitably?) forgot where they left it, and it rotted. And their relationship at home rotted too, because missing couch.
How come your photos have so many stories in them?

Wow. All I saw was a ratty old couch. I completely missed the little novel that you saw. Which makes me wonder which one of us might be smoking a doobie…
Also, five vehicles/day is a really high (Ha! Ha!) estimate. Five/month may be more like it.

A couch under a shade tree beside the road and you missed the story? That seems a bit unnatural, for you.

Although it strikes me that maybe “shade stump” is a bit more accurate than “shade tree.”
