Construction Debris
This building used to be the county jail. Before too much longer, it’ll be the admin office for the county sheriff, a change that seems symmetrical in a way.
About this time last year, I got to go inside for a look around. It looked like this, which is probably a lot more dramatic than it looks now!

I was surprised to see Lubbock in the location info. I was sure you were going to tell us it was Arizona, Maricopa County, home of a certain notorious Sheriff.

No, we have a regular Sheriff. But we did used to have this going on with the District Attorney and the Medical Examiner – http://articles.latimes.com/1992-04-12/news/mn-286_1_wrongful-convictions.

That is awful – there was one of those in Canada a few years ago – a very large number of wrongful convictions with some people having spent 20 years wrongly incarcerated.

That DA is still around, as an attorney in private practice. In fact, I just saw him at the grocery store right before Christmas. He was (true story) taking about 15 minutes to decide on which carton of eggs to purchase. Which is more consideration than he gave a lot of the defendants who came before him when he was the DA.

Perhaps he was looking for (possible) rotten eggs, so he could dash them to the floor and oblivion.

Or, maybe he was looking for possible rotten eggs so he could take them home and be best friends with them.

That seems more likely, now that you mention it.
