I had never thought about it but I suppose a car is really a horseless carriage. It’s power used to be measure in ‘horse power’

I’d heard the term before, but I thought it was usually applied to Model Ts or something…
“Horsepower” is one of those words whose initial meaning has gotten lost over time, isn’t it?
