Use next door
When you go to Marfa, and if you find the Food Shark, and if after you’ve had lunch there you walk down the street that’s right there on the south side of the train tracks, you might catch this place, with its instructional sign and nice reflection of what the other side of town looks like.*

*My question is this: do you think, given the evidence presented, that four commas are too many in one sentence, or am I being too sensitive, or what?**
**Damn it. I did it again.
Why I love my job
My co-worker, whom I will call Brad (but only because that’s his name), stopped by my office the other day and told me, “I found a place you’ll love. Tokio. Between Brownfield and Plains.”
My co-workers are good about giving me tips on where to shoot; another one, that I’ll call Alfonso (because he gets called that a lot, even though his name is Adolfo), travels around almost every weekend and texts me photos of things he sees that he thinks I’ll like.
It’s sort of fancy, I think, to have a whole team of location scouts. And it’s one of the reasons I love my job.
Anyway, the other day when I was coming back from my photo adventure in Roswell, I remembered what Brad told me, and pulled off the road to check out Tokio. He was right: I did love it. I loved it even thought the wind was blowing and there was a cloud of dust headed my way. (You can see it in this picture, that gritty looking stuff behind the house.)

A certain rhythm
Last weekend, I met up with blogger and photographer Donna Catterick, and we spent the day photographing around Roswell, New Mexico.
My eye was caught by the sedate rhythm of the stairs and of those four windows, and the way that dangling window screen on the end broke up that rhythm in a very nice way. Way to go, window screen!

Ghost Signs
My time was fairly constrained when I was in Atlanta, so I was limited on what sorts of things I could find to photograph. I stayed near the convention center, and everything around there is new, which presented a bit of problem for a photographer who loves the old, crumbly stuff.
I did spot this nice ghost sign just down the block from the hotel; it was nice of the sign to be there for me and it made me like Atlanta a little bit more.
