In the window

I drive past this former restaurant almost every morning on my way to work, and keep thinking I ought to stop and make a few photos. Late last month, a weird thing happened and I needed to go to the office on a Sunday, and for some reason I remembered to take the camera.

I worked for a few hours, and then as a reward to myself for my effort, my camera and I stopped at that place I’d been eyeing. And this is what I saw…

the blur of the past was upon us

Last year, an old house next to my office was being torn down. I got to go inside for a look around. Mostly, it looked like this.

The few clothes hanging in the closet were what got to me. They were so personal, and so alone.

This old, sad backstop was in what appeared to have been a schoolyard. It had clearly been more than a few seasons since it had seen any action.

Edited Sign

The last iteration of this building was Charley’s. Before that, it was a Long John Silver’s restaurant, and I think that’s what has been painted over on the drive-through canopy.
