Dress form

121014

A dress form stands guard at a second story window.

Last week, some of my photography pals were in town for a show and we took advantage of a nice day and spent the morning at the National Ranching Heritage Center. We were almost the only visitors, but there were lots of workers around getting ready for a big event there this weekend. The workers were kind enough to let us go inside two of the houses, which are normally not open to the public.

And that’s how I got to make this photo.

Mammatus

120914

NOTE: this does not refer to Mammatus, but rather to mammatus, a cloud formation characterized by a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud.

Mammatus formations are often harbingers of strong thunderstorms, or tornadoes. No tornadoes were spotted nearby. In case you wondered.

Serrated edges

Wire knot

The wire fence around the butterfly garden seems to be providing instructions to tendrils on how to twist themselves.
