The very nice fonts on the signs are as good as reason as any to book a stay at the Sherbrooke Hotel, in Miami’s South Beach.

If you want to go see Acuff, do this: start in Lubbock, then take 4th Street heading east. Once you leave the city limits, the street changes names to Farm Road 40. When you see the Acuff Steak House on your right and the metal building shown above on your left, you’ll have just about seen the town. But, if you keep going east, you might spot this fixer-upper. You’re on your own after that….

Sorry – posted in error

I was trying to have a poignant end-of-year wrap up for the blog and published it just now in error. Sorry. Sorry. It’s been deleted, and will return on its rightful place on December 31.

(You’d think by now I’d know the difference between “publish” and “preview”.)

I have a rather inadvertent series going, with photos taken from various hotel rooms. This one, in San Francisco, is from the Westin Market Street, looking generally toward Union Square. But I’ve also got St. Petersburg, Florida; San Diego, California; Plano, Texas; and Washington, D.C.

I guess it might look like I never leave the room, but I really do. I promise!

A downtown alley, looking north from 14th Street. I have mentioned, haven’t I, that I like to take photographs in alleys?
