“Howdy!” to you, too.

The sign for this place. I think that fella’s cute, and wouldn’t mind having his happy face in my yard.

Except that his happy face is gigantic. And we’ve got a sign ordinance that I am pretty sure prohibits gigantic signs in residential areas. Although, I guess I could decide it’s a work of art, rather than a sign…..

  2. Nice old sign – must have looked pretty good when the neon was alive.
I like how you have cornered that street light in the photo.

    • Thanks, Ehpem. I want to think that when the sign was lit, the man waved and the wheels on the truck turned, but the neon tubes that are there don’t look like it did. But a girl can dream, right?

The street light was actually sneaking INTO the photo, instead of away from it.

  4. Absolutely, you can call this lawn art! It would send a message of friendship to anyone coming to your home. And think of the photographic opportunities!!!
Someone worked hard to design and make this sign years ago. Shame it’s fallen on hard times.

    • It would also make it easy to give directions to my house: “Turn on 92nd Street and look for the giant sign.”

(Actually, it could probably be even easier; I think I could say, “Once in Lubbock, look for the giant sign.” We have a pretty restrictive sign ordinance, and so this one would really stand out. Once we get it classified as Art, I mean.)
