Between sky and earth

080614

In addition to all those things in Marfa that I listed yesterday, you can also see this very nice wall, and the sky above it.

(Everything but) the kitchen sink

Parts of Marfa are all artsy and so forth, with foundations and public radio and famous food trucks and quirky lodging.

But then, on the other side of town, it’s sort of a different story, with old adobe houses slowly melting away. This place was cleaned out, with only the kitchen sink remaining behind to oversee the house’s death.

Circle Square

If you go to Roswell (and you really should consider a trip!), and you have your camera with you, I’d recommend that you head over to Railroad Avenue. You’ll see what I mean when you get there. But in case you can’t make it right away, you can look at this shot and dream of faraway places where circle and squares meet…

The fault of he who asks no questions

080314

I don’t think I have synesthesia.

But sometimes when I look at photos I’ve made, song lyrics burst into my mind. When I saw this, I heard “the fault of he who asks no questions,” a line from a song by Daniel Lanois. (If you look at the lyrics, you can see how big a leap this is! It’s a fine song, though, and you can listen to it here.)

(Inside my head: things get interesting.)

Leading up

080214

This blue sky and friendly clouds were the lead up to a big storm that chased us away from the open rocks.  (Come back tomorrow to see what the sky looked like as the storm approached.)
