I really like this too. Intellectually the stunted concrete columns are truly interesting – like some deconstruction of a classical temple. I wonder what the thinking was behind those. And, just today on my version of our joint post I said you did not like symmetry – unknowingly you make a liar of me with exquisite timing. Oh well, that’s what I get for generalising.

Thanks, Ehpem. Here’s a secret about this shot – I cropped it so that the steeple was off-center, so you really weren’t a liar on the other post.
I don’t have an explanation for those columns, which sort of feel like bollards to keep cars from driving across the sidewalk.

I did notice it was ever so slightly off-centre, and thought it likely you did that on purpose. I like ever so slightly off centre, it works for these kinds of shots. Seems good for portraits of people too.

Maybe there’s not much difference between portraits of buildings and portraits of people?
Except people blink at odd times.
