But my favorite is the way the phone numbers are written, which reminded me of Mrs. Bourland’s seventh grade English class, and the way she’d diagram sentences on the chalkboard while I daydreamed in the back of the room.

Diagramming sentences!! That was the only part of English class I ever really enjoyed.

I don’t even think diagramming sentences is a thing anymore. Also, I don’t think I could diagram a sentence if I had to…!

Yes, one website claimed that it has been out of favor for thirty years. And as much as I liked it back in its day, I couldn’t do it now either. Still, it’s a nice memory… 🙂

I hadn’t even thought about diagramming sentences in ages – until those phone numbers reminded me. Funny how those little pieces of memory hang around…

Never heard of sentence diagrams. Which might just mean I wasn’t paying attention in class.
I agree, there IS so much else to like about this sign. I probably would not have given it a second glance.

There was another sign like this on the main highway out of town, with the same innovative spelling of “commercial” and everything.
