Nothing gets in the way
There are no trees to stop the wind. Which reminds me of a song. Which shouldn’t surprise any regular readers: lots of things remind me of a song!
Here’s Joe Ely, singing “Because of the Wind”.

So could it be the Wayward Wind or the Wind they call Maria ?

I hadn’t thought of either of those songs in ages – thanks for the trip down musical memory lane!

Was once a great sea bed, stretching north/south. Great photo!

Thanks, John. I’d actually gotten out of the car to take this shot – https://melindagreenharvey.com/2015/07/13/for-when-the-rains-dont-come/ – and saw that line of low clouds when I turned around to get back in the car. I need to add “Always look over my shoulder.” to the other rule I have – “Always looks around back.”

Like the photograph, and I like Joe Ely, too.

Thanks, Steven. Joe’s one of my favorites. He lives in Austin now, but comes back to Lubbock often. The last time he was here, accordionist Joel Guzman played with him, and sort of stole the show.

I can’t believe it! The first time I heard Joe, Joel was playing with him. What a great combination. Lucky you.

I’ve got their CD, Cactus Live!, but this was the first time I’d seen them together. Our seats were close to the stage, and I was just mesmerized watching the expressions on Joel’s face. He looked calm and happy, and every now and then he’d smile to himself.

That’s wonderful. I’ve never seen him live, but have him on my iTunes.
