I do have to add that on the last day of the trip, he said, “I think I need to find a hobby where YOU have to stand around and watch ME do stuff.” I think I’d reached the very end of his tolerance!

You couldn’t and I would have stopped too. Opportunities like that don’t happen very often and the shoulda woulda thing is so disappointing.You have a much more understanding spouse than I.

I was driving…it works better that way, for a lot of reasons. Partly because it’s easier to stop for photos, mostly because I am a terrible passenger (I get bored sort of quickly).

Mary Beth gets quite antsy when she is with me while I photograph. Most often she’ll take off and then I have to try catch up with her…if I can find her. I do most of my shooting in the morning while she sleeps in. Better light and happier wife.

I’m glad you and she were able to work it out! On this particular trip, my Patient Spouse lived up to his name until day 8 of the 8-day trip, when he said (after yet another u-turn), “I need to find something to do that YOU can stand around and watch!”
