They do go on
This store, The Famous, has been out of business for years – ten or fifteen, maybe. The last window displays are still there, in all of their faded, out-of-fashion glory. Like this dimpled lad, with his platinum hair and sun-burnt tuxedo. And, isn’t he wearing a surprising amount of eye makeup? Or, maybe that’s what you do when you wear a tux; my experience is pretty limited.

It’s like a still from The Twilight Zone. I half expect to see Rod Serling step into the frame, cigarette in hand, to do the set up.

The whole block feels that way, actually. There’s a bail bonds place, this store, a laundry/dry cleaners with a DO NOT OCCUPY notice posted by the City, and a panadería. And across the street is the bus station.

And William Shatner asking the bobble head napkin dispenser if he should take the job? It sounds a lot like a Twilight Zone episode indeed.
