An old cartoon The Wizard of Id (?) has the King learning the moat monsters are hungry and the farmers need water for the crops. He decided he could solve both problems at once !

This isn’t the first place I’ve been where the pool’s not open any more. (Here’s one, from Spur, Texas: https://melindagreenharvey.com/2015/06/05/no-one-swims/.) I guess when it comes down to choosing between life safety stuff like police or ambulances and recreational activities, the recreation has to go. It’s just a shame when it comes down to those kinds of decisions.
