Parishioners are reminded that the community lost Bennie Sandoval on Guadalcanal in 1944. He was one of 60 county residents to die while serving the country during World War II.

You’ll be interested to know, maybe, that there’s no burial record of Bennie Sandoval in the town’s cemetery, which makes me think his body never made it home.
