The daunting task

042915

I don’t know how much of the wall that worker was painting with a roller, but if it was the entire thing, it he/she probably didn’t finish in one day.

“There must be some kind of way out of here.”

I’ve mentioned this before – how sometimes a particular scene will make a song show up in my mind.

You can probably figure out which one it was this time, from the caption. But which version? My mind didn’t care if it was Bob Dylan or Jimi Hendrix or U2 or Eddie Vedder. But it drew the line at John Mayer.

Escalator to nowhere

After I made this image, a security guard quizzed me about why, exactly, I was taking pictures of an empty exhibit hall.

“Check out those two red circles and how they balance that red cart!”

“It’s so far down!”

“Oooh – the floor is so shiny!”

“That yellow wall is such a nice contrast to the grey floor.”

But I settled for, “I like how it looks.” She was completely confused and I didn’t stick around.

Children Playing

When one enters a village

041915

There have been approximately 1 billion photos made of this church at Ranchos de Taos. And with good reason – it is stunningly beautiful.

The trick is to go there, take in the stunningly-beautiful part and then find a new way to capture it. I’m not saying I accomplished that; but I tried…

This archway, that serves as the village entrance into the courtyard and the sacred space beyond, caught my attention; I liked the way it framed the top of the famous church.
