(By the time you see this post, this place will have been demolished: someone’s home is becoming a parking lot.)

The gate

I have not done a comprehensive, objective survey of the gates in town, but I am pretty sure this is one of the best.

Alleyway Art Gallery

Now, you might have the impression that Levelland, Texas, is without art. In fact, it is known as the City of Mosiacs* and the local artists seem to be branching out a bit, into these nice alley-based pieces. I am lucky because this art is on the way into my office, so I get to see it regularly.

*You thought I was kidding, didn’t you?

So many things here that I can’t explain.

  • This boat is part of a land-based flotilla.
  • The flotilla is moored on some vacant land between a church and a cotton gin.
  • A cotton gin in the middle of a town isn’t especially normal.
  • No boat trailers? How’d they get here?
  • Why?

And there’s at least one thing the people in the house across the street can’t explain.

  • Why is that crazy woman over there taking pictures of the boats?

How to get closer to God

Apparently all it takes is a couple of ladders.
