Deepening shadows
This building is under renovation – one of these days, it’ll be office space for Hockley County.
I happen to know the architect* for the project, and was able to get a tour one afternoon. Of course, the tour wasn’t planned in advance or anything like that**, so the only camera I had with me was the one on my phone. Which is better than no camera at all, of course. And the phone did a great job of capturing the way the shadows deepened in waves across that far wall.

* Because I’m married to him.
** Even though I am licensed planner! (Don’t tell the American Institute of Certified Planners – I’d hate for them to revoke my license!)

2. Sometimes the day’s schedule sort of does its own thing, no matter what you’d planned.
3. And, because of item 2, I had only my cell phone with me when I had the chance to look around the renovation of this building.
4. But at least I had it.

The remains of the gin
This abandoned cotton gin is right in the middle of town, just a few blocks from the county courthouse. It’s sort of fantastic looking, now, to people like me.
But, I feel bad for anyone who lived nearby – and there are houses just across the street – when it was operational. Cotton ginning’s a dirty business; at the height of the season, everything around is covered with so many fluffs of cotton that it looks like snow. It might sound sort of pretty, but it’s not. And it’s hard to breathe, too.

Truckload sales
It’s good to know that even in small towns, you can get this stuff at affordable prices.
No, it’s really not. It’s sort of disturbing. And the thing is that this truck has been parked for a couple of weeks and seems to be selling lots of stuff. Just in time for Christmas, too, which is a topic you probably don’t want to get me started on.
A couple of other things:
1. The lettering. Gracious. Especially that odd S at the end of “knives.”
2. They may have meant “taser” instead.
