through longing and through pain

This is a shock, right? Can you even believe that I’ve made such a swing from abandoned monochrome downtowns, to this?

What happened was I took a class on macros and close-ups, and we had homework. At the same time (but unrelated, probably), I sort of re-injured my surgery foot and had to be non-weight bearing for a few days. That meant that a trip to New Mexico had to be cancelled and my plans to do my homework in adobe churches or whatever fell all the way apart.

My dining room table turned into a studio and I gathered up things I could carry to the “studio”  in one hand while I navigated the knee scooter with the other and they became my subjects.

I’m still not happy about the surgery setback (it’s much better now) or the cancelled trip (I’m still sort of stabby about that) but those things conspired to lead to me shoot something I’d never even given the slightest consideration for a photograph.
