Mostly sky

061113

There’s no need to add any deep theological meaning to the large amount of sky above the Living Word sign.

I mean, if you want to, I certainly won’t stop you. My point was that I didn’t do that when I took the shot; I just liked the way it looked.

Hope U slept well

Damn.

Finding something this good in an alley just about made me hyperventilate.

It’s a lovely – though oddly located – sentiment. And the lettering is nicely done.

Illuminance: photographic works

The Buddy Holly Center has an annual juried show, Illuminance: photographic works. This year’s theme was “experiencing place”; part of the call for entries said “Can you create an image that is emotional, atmospheric, that conveys your feelings about this special place?”

My photograph from Los Angeles, titled “Not One of Them Real” was accepted into the show, which will run from June 25 through August 10.

Anyway, if you’re in Lubbock, stop by and take a look.

Oh, and without getting too sappy or anything, thanks to all of you for following this blog, and for taking time to click “like” or to post comments. It matters.

Drop box

But of course: of course I wouldn’t take a trip to Clovis without looking in some alleys.

Check this out: the white “drop box” letters are practically gone, and someone decided that THIS time around the letters were going to stay. So, now they are painted right on the brick. And include a handy line, in case you are unclear of where, exactly, this drop box may be located.

Just down from here, this is what I saw: under the drive-up canopy at the Bank of Clovis, a older model Mercedes coupe, red, with the top down and the hood up. And an older gentleman, in dress pants, a starched shirt, and a necktie, carefully wiping the dipstick after he’d checked the oil in the car. As I walked by, he lowered the hood. Glad everything was OK, oil-wise, with the car.

Rhythm.

Yes, I did take an overnight trip to Clovis, New Mexico, just to take pictures of…well…whatever I could find. That’s the way I am.

I don’t know what anyone else – particularly my patient spouse, who served as Driver and Assistant on the trip – thinks about it, but when I saw this grain elevator, I knew the trip was worth it.
