But only three triangles
It’s been noted that I have a very slight tendency to photograph rectangles, so I want to go on record right now to point out that while this shot does contain an estimated 158* rectangles, it also includes three triangles.

*158 is a very rough estimate. If anyone wants to actually count the rectangles and provide a more accurate number that would be fine with me. I won’t even make you show your work.

The open door makes this very inviting. I haven’t counted the rectangles (or triangles) but I’m inclined to take your word for it since this is not a fact-free blog.

Funny story: I actually planned on having a fact-free blog, but it turned out that you’d already cornered that part of the blog-o-sphere.
Anyway, I haven’t heard from my Research Department this morning, so I figure he’s hard at work, counting rectangles.

Thanks, Mark. I used to be shy about looking through windows of abandoned businesses, which means that I’ve missed a lot of good shots. I am, however, trying to make up for it.

Open doors are always inviting and this one certainly is, Melinda. I’m still searching for a third triangle, but have also noted some parallelograms and quite a few quadrilaterals.

Andy – There are two coathangers on the wall – a thick plastic one, and a paper-covered wire one behind it.
And you’re right: there are some shapes other than rectangles!

Sorry to be checking in so late. I did get lost in the rectangles, and looking for that third triangle as well. Just so you know, in that distant window, the one on the lower right with the bricks in it, there are at least 140 rectangles, not counting the window opening or its frame. I’m thinking you dropped a zero from your estimate. But then, you are an artist, what’s a dropped zero here and there?
I like the hinges on the left, and the footprint on the wall and the X on the door window, and the glass in the door window and how you have lined all the grid up so perfectly with the edges of the frame. This shot has so much to look at.

I agree that there’s a lot to see in this shot, and not all of it is a rectangle. Like the footprint you noticed!
