The Gap
Where a building was, there’s now a parking lot filling in the gap.
We lived in New Orleans for a few years; when we first got there, someone gave us these directions: Go up Canal Street, and turn right where the bakery used to be.
Not helpful. Not one bit.

Candle Can’t Escape

Down a little street called Pirate Alley, and in the shadow of St. Louis Cathedral, there’s a certain candle being held captive on a wooden table. A silvery chain blocks its escape.
But, if it DID escape, where would it go?

PS – Tom Robbins’ book Skinny Legs and All was (apparently) in my mind when I wrote this.
Message is the Mystery
Don’t you wish you knew what was on that piece of paper tucked into the shutters? And don’t you wonder if there’s someone looking out through the curtains, watching to see if you’ll give in to temptation?
And, also, don’t you wonder why I made this in color?
So many mysteries.
