You’ll be fine. But you should have that pit in the windshield looked after.

That’s the Patient Spouse’s windshield, and that one pit is really the least of the problems. His vehicle has nearly 200,000 miles on it, and he’s not too inclined to fix stuff at this point. And anyway, as you can see from the photo, the dirt helps obscure the damage.

I advise him not to wash it. It’s probably the dirt that’s holding it together.

The main thing that kept that from happening was the amount of time it didn’t run, which of course kept it off the road.
