Aztec

It was early enough in the morning that I didn’t even have to wait for the sidewalk on the other side of the river to be free of pedestrians before I could get my shot.

Beverage Station

082916

Sometimes, you can just tell by the name of the place that there was some sort of drama involved. Like this café I went to in San Antonio – The Original Blanco Café. I was hoping the inclusion of “original” in the name was a veiled reference to some sort of acrimonious split, but a glance at Google seems to indicate that this is the first of two or three other locations of the same restaurant.

So much for drama.

Unless you want to count the lovely drama of the beverage station, with the bucket of lemons, the framed photograph on the wall, and the stacks of glasses.

The rectangles and I are very happy together

071316

Well, that is we were very happy together. Then I went away to take a photography class and we – the rectangles and I – broke up. Things just weren’t working out between us, and it seemed like the right thing to do. We may get back together, sometime. But for now, we need some time apart.

So, when you come back tomorrow, there’s a chance you may notice a slight variation on the sorts of images you may have come to expect to see here.

All alone on Soledad Street

060916

A store-front mission on Soledad Street in downtown San Antonio, Texas. The door was locked, and there weren’t any signs to indicate days or hours it might be open, or even the name of the place. All of which seems somehow fitting, given its location on a street whose name means “solitary.”

Laundry Day

060816

I know this doesn’t even sound like me at all, but I was really trying to get a shot of the man pushing this laundry cart along the street. That didn’t work out very well – neither he nor the smattering of pedestrians were cooperative – so I ended up going with what I know: a shot where the people are implied.
