5 towers
I made a return visit to this little trailer, which (if you’ve been around here long enough) you may recall from 2013.
Go on over and look at that other photo; I’ll wait.
So, see how it doesn’t look like anything’s changed? My theory is that the hot, dry air has mummified it.

Psycho Heart
The whole reason I went to Prada Marfa was to see what the back of it looked like; I was distracted by this fine scene at first.
Then I saw this fence and graffiti.
And I sort of never did get the back-of-the-place shot that I intended. Some days are just like that.

Prada Marfa (alternate view)
You’ve probably seen photos of Prada Marfa (and here’s an explanation of it). I’ve been to the site a couple of times, but never stopped. The other day, though, I went out there for the express purpose of shooting an image of the back of it, because I couldn’t stand to think of making yet another image of the front.
The Photography Gods smiled on me, and I was able to get a non-normal image of the place.

What happened on Friday
First of all, my good photography pals Brett Erickson, Liz McCue, and George Nobechi Bumstead all showed up in Lubbock. That alone would have made for an excellent weekend. But there’s more.
All of us had images in the High and Dry show at the International Cultural Center at Texas Tech, so it was fun to form our own little art mob to go to the opening reception.
And, then, much to my very great surprise, I found out that the juror, Miguel Gandert, had awarded third place to my image, Sad Trailer.
It was a very, very good day.
