Varying materials

072614

There’s a lot going on with this place. The one open window, the three boarded-up ones. The bigger openings of different heights. The adobe blocks peeking through the stucco. The new construction on the right side. One big crack. Some smaller ones.

And the chairs. Don’t forget the chairs.

Concrete Crosses

These concrete crosses are part of a larger memorial in honor of the nuns and priests who served the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.

I like how the concrete has weathered until it has the look of stone. And I like how the backs of the crosses are shored up with those little buttresses. It makes them seem sort of church-like.

Window fan

There was a time when I would have found that electric fan in the church window to be a distraction. That time may or may not have been relatively recent. Now, though, I think it is perfectly placed to echo the arched top of the window overhead.
