Jacal and Oak
This giant oak tree was probably already around during the Texas Revolution. That jacal came later. I think.

It was a very calm location. Some of that, though, was because I wasn’t there in the middle of the summer when it’s hot and humid. I disapprove of that combination, and am not at all calm when the weather gets like that…

I understand. I don’t do hot and humid. But sometimes it does me. That’s why I like living in the Bay Area.

Ugh, indeed. I’ve just returned from my younger granddaughter’s T-ball game, where it was approximately 189 degrees, and 500% humidity. Now, some nice a/c for the rest of the afternoon….

A long time ago, one of my husband’s bosses said, “There’s a difference between fifteen years of experience and one year of experience fifteen times.” I’ve never forgotten that, and it’s influenced me in countless ways. Funny that a coffee-break* remark would be so important!
*He worked for a company that had scheduled, mandatory coffee breaks. That sounds really old-timey.

One of the wisest things I’ve ever heard an engineer say is, “You’re going to spend the money anyway. You’re going to spend it on doing a good design to begin with or you’re going to spend it on fixing it later.” Boeing should listen up on that one.
