Remember the the other day, when I mentioned the avoid-Interstates trip? That was only part of the reasons we ended up in Trinchera, Colorado. The other reason was that I remembered my dad mentioning it. Now, I’ll admit that it would sure be a better story if I could recall what he said about it, but I can’t. (On the good side, though, at least you don’t have to read through a long account of something that happened in 1928 and was already boring as soon as it had happened.)
But, anyway. Trinchera. The road and the train cross over Trinchera Creek just on the west side of town. And there’s a path down to the creek, which gave me a nice view of the railroad bridge.

God: now in Denver
You already know* what a sucker I am for graffiti. So of course, when I saw graffiti indicating God’s presence in Denver, I had to make the shot.

Cowboy, framed
The Crawford, a hotel located in Denver’s Union Station, has a lot of interesting places to explore. One day, we found this series of framed cowboys staggered down a staircase.

The guard trees
The internet told me that Matheson, Colorado, has a population on 94. My eyes told me that number seemed sort of exaggerated.
I wouldn’t have been here at all, except that I decided (on a whim that turned into an Absolute Mission) that on our trip to Colorado, we would completely avoid driving on any Interstates. That made for some interesting routes, and included quite a few miles on unpaved roads.
One of those unpaved roads brought us here, to an abandoned church guarded by dead trees.
