There’s a piano at Union Station, with a sign inviting people to step up and play.
This woman had just finished playing, with that little girl next to her the whole time. The rest of their family was close by, obviously proud of what was going on. And it was a privilege for me to get to share in their afternoon, if only for a single moment.

Frank’s pay phone
There were a lot of pay phones in Los Angeles, at least in the part of town we were in. So, if you want to use a pay phone, for nostalgia or other reasons, LA’d be the place to go.
This one, for some reason, seems to be closely connected to Frank Sinatra, although he was not using it at the time I walked past.

Cab ride, in the rain
On the cab ride to the airport the other day, I realized that I’ve had lots of missed opportunities to take photos from back seats of cabs over the years. It just never occurred to me.
