Oh, man, I loved the way the cowboy, the crucifix, the five black crosses, and the little stone saint’s niche were all hanging out together in this part of the cemetery. It looks like the cowboy is heading out, though, so I guess I got there just in time.

No Game

The visitors’ side of the bleachers at Marathon High School. The district’s not very big – 41 students in grades K-12 in the 2014-2015 school year.

If you’re interested in finding out the upcoming football schedule (or anything else, really), good luck: the website that’s listed for the school district actually goes to a site dealing with lower-case-M marathons and running and has an article titled “5 kick-ass foods I switched to for my marathons.” Check it out! If you want a tiny bit of demographic data about the district, you can find it here.

Or (and this is really my suggestion), you can just look at this photo and imagine a school district that averages 3.15 students per grade.

I miss you like I miss the flowers in bloom

Today’s the last day of my self-assigned lyrics-as-titles experiment. Thanks for your patience!

The way the openings in this old place lined up was what caught my eye. It made me sad, the way the roof’s gone, the weeds are taking over, the plaster’s peeling away: it was a lonely scene.

So, here’s a lonely song.

A wrench in the works

The same broken down, rusted truck had been parked outside this place for at least four years, so I figured if I went in to look around, there’d be no one else there.

And I was right. I was the only one there, and I found the usual assortment of odd, abandoned things. Like a two-legged chair. And a giant wrench.

All in all, it was worth the stop.

An attempt to blend in

When I was inside this place, I looked out the (glass-free) window and saw this trailer house trying to camouflage itself. It was doing a pretty good job, I guess, except for those two satellite dishes on top.
