Kamloops Cowboy Festival
I am grateful to my good friend Brett Erickson, who told me about the Art of the West Show and Sale at the Kamloops Cowboy Festival in Kamloops, British Columbia. Actually, in addition to telling me about the show, he encouraged me to enter. And I am glad I did: two of my photographs were accepted into the show.
So, if you happen to be in or around Kamloops from March 14-16, please stop by, and you can see these photos:
#1 Fans
Do you qualify as a #1 Fan of the Dallas Cowboys? No, I don’t either. But if we DID, this is where we could hang out. There are some rules, though, according to the numerous hand-written signs taped to the door. You have to be over 21 to enter. You have to fork over a five buck cover charge. And you can smoke only in “desenated” areas, which are further defined as “in back.”

PS: My spouse suggested that this should post on Super Bowl Sunday, in honor of the Cowboys and their triumphant return to today’s Big Game.
Texas, far west (the book)
I am not a salesperson – I couldn’t even sell Girl Scout cookies, and those things practically sell themselves.
But, I did want to mention that, if you are in the market for a self-published photography book featuring my favorites images from last year’s postings here at One Day | One Image, you can go here and check out my newly-published book..
Or, you can click on the badge on the sidebar.
At any rate, there’s a book out there that maybe you’ll want.
Unfortunately, however, I no longer sell Girl Scout cookies.
What waits at the end of the road
What waits at the end of this particular road, in a cemetery, is a small, concrete block building with a locked door.
Let’s hope that’s not really what the end has for us.

My friend Sue Wallis passed away this week; her memorial service is today. Sue was a fine poet and a good woman, and she left the earth too soon. Her husband Rod McQueary passed away in December 2012, also much too soon.
Here’s a Sue, reciting a poem in which her love for Rod is palpable. I miss them both.

The anonymous church
You’ll have to take my word for that this place was a church; I base my opinion on the three large crosses on the side of the building that you can’t see in this photo. There wasn’t a sign anywhere around, and the map of Slaton, which notes quite a few other churches in the neighborhood, doesn’t say what this place is.
My usual route into town was blocked by a train, so I took the road next to the tracks, and when the pavement ended, I turned toward town and found a way that brought me to a part I’d never seen before. There’s a very good chance that you’ll see more shots from this neighborhood over the next few days….
