coffee girl

The first morning in Edinburgh was a treat, wandering around in the mist with my camera in hand, taking in sights of a place I’d never been.

And that’s how I happened to see this young woman at a coffee shop.  (And how she happened to see me.)

turned her back on drama

In the background kids were playing in a bounce house. Or crying. Or pushing each other out of the way. Or sliding down all wonky.

And that placid woman turned her back on all of it…

Well, those kids didn’t like the looks of me. Not one bit.

(Or their mom was calling them to her.) (Wait. Maybe SHE didn’t like the looks of me.)

a wiring project

We saw these gentlemen sitting outside, rewiring a light fixture. And like nearly everyone we encountered in Sicily, they were more than happy to have a chat with us, even though there wasn’t a common language.

melanie, twice

I have a tiny little side hustle as a kind-of regular speaker at a couple of civic groups here in town. I know – it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, either. But they keep asking me back. (Apparently the good speakers in town are already booked on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon so it’s come down to me.)

A few days ago, I did a presentation on last year’s trip to Cuba and I took the opportunity of putting that together to edit a few images that I didn’t get to last year.

This diptych of the dancer name Melanie were in the new edits. And since I also have a daily post thing to do, I decided to utilize them here as well.
