Two things about San Antonio

062514

the Alamo*
the Riverwalk

To me, the Riverwalk generally conjures up images of Mexican food restaurants by the water and about a million sunburned tourists working really hard at having fun.

There’s this other part of the Riverwalk, though, called the Museum Reach. It goes to some museums (weird, I know) and the old Pearl Brewery. There are not that many people on the Museum Reach, so naturally that’s the part I like the best.

The part I like the best, after this very nice shade structure, I mean.

*Why, yes, I do have the obligatory Alamo photograph! It’s right here.

The floor could use some work

To be fair, though, it’s not just the floor. The roof looks like it needs a bit of attention as well.

But at one time, this was a thriving business. It even had separate entrances for the drug counter and for groceries.

The icehouse door

The bricks on this wall were going in every direction and I am pretty sure that the wall above the left-hand window is about to fall over.

The door to the icehouse was very interesting – it still had pieces of the old cork insulation stuck on it and the wood was nicely weathered.

Out in front, a sign said the place was open 8-5 Monday through Saturday. The condition of the place and a few other clues lead me to believe perhaps the sign is in error. But that’s OK – neither Donna Catterick, my companion on this adventure, or I would have liked stopping to take pictures if there’d been other people around. That’s how we are.

Wiring diagram

Since a wiring diagram is actually a simplified conventional pictorial representation of an electrical circuit (according to Wikipedia, who ought to know), this is obviously not a wiring diagram. But that’s what I thought of when I saw the picture.
