breakfast lighting

I have to say that I paid a lot more attention to the light in this place that I did to anything else. I mean, you see my point, right?

curtained

I took a short post-dinner walk through downtown San Saba and that’s how I happened to see the gauzy curtains. (It was also still about 100° outside so I didn’t really fully explore the photographic options: my brain was having a hard time processing that it was still so hot so late in the day.)

cactus + abandonment

Besides getting this shot of cactus, I also used this stop to dig a dead bird out of the front grill of my car, in case you were wondering what sort of carnage I encountered on my drive home the other day.

farm stand

It wasn’t a farm stand in the sense of “Oh, look! Fresh tomatoes!!” but at some point it looked like it had been. Now it was sort of an “I’m making a u-turn to photograph that old place.” situation.

corner store

This used to be a thriving corner, right there at the intersection of Main and Railway Streets. It has, however, gotten over that, with nearly the entire block of buildings sitting vacant. It’s not anything I haven’t seen before in a thousand little towns, but it still made me sad to see the same scene repeated here.
