church

Another view of this church, taken on the same day, over a year and a half ago.

I just went by this place at Christmas, and it looked about the same. Maybe a few more shingles have blown away, and perhaps the building’s succumbed to gravity just a tiny bit more. But, mostly – the same.

Only this happened, and it’s not the first time: scenes that I’ve photographed always seem much smaller when I see them again. What’s with that? Also this: I shoot in color and convert to monochrome. But once I’ve converted a photo, I have very little (or no) memory of what the colors used to be.

(My mind: it’s scary in here.)

So, this happened: the hard drive on my laptop crashed.

But before that, this happened: my Time Capsule had also crashed and because I am just the tiniest bit paranoid, I replaced it right away.

But before THAT, this happened: I purchased Apple Care for my laptop.

So nothing was lost and the new hard drive was replaced free.

But: the laptop is still working on restoring itself and I want to get this blog posted and get on with things.

So, here’s something different from my usual posts. This was shot with my iPhone, and edited with a couple of apps – Dramatic B&W and PicFX.

Floydada: 4 of 4

(All the way back in the last century, my son, Nathan, was ill*, and as a result our family participated in a Make a Wish trip. His friend Dennis went with us on the trip. We went on the annual Wish Flight, where kids from all around the country were flown to Dallas, then to Orlando, via a chartered plane. Nathan and Dennis decided to amuse themselves by pretending we were going to Floydada [a small town on the Texas High Plains], rather than Florida. They videotaped various participants in the event – the CEO of American Airlines, a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, flight attendants, etc. – talking about how excited they were to be going to FLOYDADA. It was funnier, maybe, than it sounds, but I have a warm place in my heart for Floydada because of their crazy antics.)

No, not really. I’ve not been to Paris. But I did go to Santa Fe.
