Overflow Conditions

Ah…the mundane! How nice to find the place where the folding chairs are queued up in case there’s an overflow crowd.

In the spotlight

Most of these churches don’t allow access to the balcony, but this one did. So of course, I climbed right up those stairs. There were four rows of pews, running the length of the church, and so close together it was almost impossible to pass through them. I have no idea how it works when there are worshipers in them.

But anyway, it was more than worth the effort because that’s how I got to see the sunlight hitting the lectern.

15 old dudes

These sixteen portraits flank the doors in the church hall, illustrating all the pastors since the founding. There are fifteen men in a row, and then, at last! A woman!

Accoutrement

The older, smaller church had been transformed into the church hall. The resourceful church members kept all the old trappings in the apse of the church hall, because I guess you just never know when a spare communion chalice will come in handy. And, to be on the safe side, all the accoutrements are locked behind a gate. Fortunately for itinerate photographers, the gate’s grate is large enough to accommodate a camera lens.

Window Treatment

The windows at this church were covered with heavy screens, which had an interesting moire pattern from the inside.

And look, there to the right of the window, where something used to hang on the wall. Only the nail and a lighter-than-the-wall rectangle remain.
