Tire and jet at abandoned church

Me (speaking in general terms about this place, which has been photographed a billion times): It’ll be a big service to the photographic world when that place finally falls down.

Me (approaching Taiban, New Mexico, on a recent trip): We HAVE to stop. I need to take some pictures.

Jack

The side yard of this church featured Jack O’Neill’s grave, some buckets, and a very short ladder.

Offering

The candles and offering boxes (and the corner of the wood stove) just inside the door of the church set the tone for what turned out to be a well-used and well-loved place.

Bennie Sandoval, 1944

Parishioners are reminded that the community lost Bennie Sandoval on Guadalcanal in 1944. He was one of 60 county residents to die while serving the country during World War II.
