Jack

The side yard of this church featured Jack O’Neill’s grave, some buckets, and a very short ladder.

(Here’s what the churchyard looked like three years ago.)

Angels are the first to go

My patient spouse, who grew up in Nebraska and is much more familiar with snow than I am, is the one who recognized the remains of someone’s snow angel in front of this church.

Ladder

For reasons that I do not know, there was a ladder on this snowy roof. The snow was starting to melt, and sheets of it were sliding off the metal roofs of buildings all over town.

And another storm was on the way.

A side view of this church. It looks as though that adobe wall will be due for some work come spring.

The day I was there, spring seemed like a long way off.

Estab. 1751

This church was founded in 1751; it is considered one of the best examples of Colonial Spanish architecture in New Mexico. Some of the adobe walls, which are re-mudded periodically, are as much as six feet thick.
