christmas
In case you don’t know this: in New Mexican restaurants, you’ll get the choice to have your food topped with either red or green chile. And if you’re bold enough to want both, it’s called “Christmas.” And that’s what I was thinking about when I spotted this scene and made this photo. (On a side note: if you want to use the west-facing aluminum window frame to brace your arm while you make some images, you may need to seek medical treatment for burns to your skin. FYI.)

So, what happened was that the crew installing the conduit for the new fiber lines installed that conduit RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE of our sewer line. And that made our sewer, uh, not drain. And THAT led us to a lovely little staycation at a local hotel that did have operable sewers.
And that, naturally, led me to make this photo of the swimming pool from the 4th floor elevator lobby.
Because I did take my camera with me on our little trip.

community
This town up in the Sacramento Mountains doesn’t even get a Google street view map: it’s that small.
However, the population DOES seem to be all the way into triple digits, at 112 people. (Up from 98 in 2020, and up from 63 in 2010.)
The World Population Review provides this helpful information about the place: “The average household income in Weed is $0 with a poverty rate of 0%. The median rental costs in recent years comes to – per month, and the median house value is -. The median age in Weed is 0 years, 0 years for males, and 0 years for females.”
All that aside, I can tell you with certainty that there is a community center in town. And at least one bird.
