table 3, with condiments

Did you notice how I posted a photo with the number 3 right there and it’s the third day of February?

And did you think, “Oh, my, look how terribly organized she is, posting a 3 on the 3rd!”?

Let me assure you that it was definitely not planned. Nope. Not one bit. I am sorry for the vast disappointment you must be feeling right now. Tomorrow’s photo wasn’t strategically planned either so now would be a good time to start managing those expectations.

a reflective day

At some point and for some reason this lumberyard storage area became a place for random cast-off stuff. I glanced at it as we drove by, but it took until we’d turned the corner for my mind to register that there was a big mirror on one of the discarded things.

I guess I was hoping for something more dramatic in the mirror, but I’d invested something like 32 seconds walking back to photograph it, so dammit: I’m posting it anyway.

similarities

I remember when I saw this a couple of years ago – I almost hyperventilated at the sight of two things that were so different, yet somehow almost the same.

I remember my traveling companions rolling their eyes at my breathless state.

I remember making the photo.

What I don’t remember is why I never got around to posting it until now…

This is what you can see at the corner of West Wallace and South High Streets, in the center of downtown San Saba. In case you’d been lying awake at night wondering.

I first discovered this bridge in 2020: I saw a sign on the highway that said “Regency Bridge” which made me say to myself, “Sure. Why not?”

It’s a narrow suspension bridge with a wooden deck, spanning the Colorado River.

Now I pay it a visit any time I’m in the area. This time I was interested in the cables and the bolts and the other stuff that keeps the bridge, well, suspended.
