Naturally, while I was in town, I glanced down an alley to see if there was anything interesting. And guess what?

Information from Data USA says that various manufacturing businesses in Raceland employ a total of 604 people; I guess some of them work over there at the place with the plumes rising to meet the clouds.
(Also, the photo behind the statistical information shows a scene from the French Quarter in New Orleans, which IS NOT anything like what you’ll see in Raceland. FYI.)

Local Industry
Sugarcane – that’s what was growing in the fields south of New Orleans.
But we didn’t figure that out until we got to Raceland and turned off the main road to see if we could figure out the source of that white smoke (or steam?). Turns out it was coming from the sugarcane mill.
