where is thy sting?

A grave marked by a barbed-wire cross somehow seems more raw, more tragic than if the marker had been a plain white one.

soap (small batch)

So, the thing is that now that I’m back from my weekend in San Saba and writing posts, I realize that I ought to have made time to go inside the San Saba Soap Company, instead of just photographing it in the early light. They have a whole line of soap and skin care products made from pecan oil – that would have been something I’d’ve paid for. I guess I’ll just have to go back. Check out their website and then start planning your own trip.

breakfast lighting

I have to say that I paid a lot more attention to the light in this place that I did to anything else. I mean, you see my point, right?

curtained

I took a short post-dinner walk through downtown San Saba and that’s how I happened to see the gauzy curtains. (It was also still about 100° outside so I didn’t really fully explore the photographic options: my brain was having a hard time processing that it was still so hot so late in the day.)

amber

I was several rows away from this one-armed figure when I spotted her ephemeral amber-colored glow.

After I’d made several photos and walked a few feet to my right, I noticed her missing arm in the grass. I’m not sure of the protocol around angel arms, but I went ahead and moved it closer to her. In case she needed it.
