That sign does seem to imply – or even promise! – that there’s water nearby. Evidence suggests otherwise, though…

  1. If you are running on empty, it seems promising; but the promise is empty.

  2. Do the numbers represent a distance, a telephone number, or the volume in gallons. The promise is opaque, I would say.
