I do like the cool overhangs, but wonder if they would help in the rain…

No. They wouldn’t help at all. But around here getting away from the sun is more of a pressing problem that getting rained on.

Someone on my One Day | One Image Facebook page posted a photo of this street when the shelters and benches were first installed – the original benches were grouped together under the shelters, which makes more sense than the current arrangement.
