after/mass

My friend (and excellent photographer) David and I spent Easter Sunday driving around northern New Mexico. David’s lived in Santa Fe for a long time and knows all the most photogenic locations. And he’ll likely deny this, but I am positive that he planned the trip knowing when we needed to be where to get the best light. The light was perfect all day. The day itself was perfect, too.

against the wall

This cemetery has a tall stone wall all around it and the gate‘s locked so there’s no way to wander around the way I like to do in cemeteries.

But I did spot this little marker that looked as though it had backed itself up against the wall.

sometimes a leading line leads to nothing

Obviously, for a leading line to do its photographic job it should lead TO something. But still, I appreciated this line’s valiant effort.

back in the old neighborhood

One of the several places I lived in Albuquerque was just a few blocks from this park. The other day, I went back there, sat on a bench and read for a while and made a few photos; there was no real reason in particular except that I had some time to kill before I headed to the airport.

The thing is that the stop at the park got all the nostalgia out of my system and I didn’t even want to go look at the old house.

traditions fall away

This shopping center was out of business; it was disappointing that the entrances had chains across them because I had Big Ideas about driving around to get photos of the place. I had to be content with a quick shot from the access (or not-access, in this case) road.

Also, if you are on this road don’t try and be all cool and whatnot and think “I’ll just hop right back on the interstate.” because you’ll shortly come to the end of the access road and have to turn around, like everyone but you knew all along was what would happen.
