a spiral of ivy

It was hot that day. And for days and days before. And for days and days after. But that ivy was tenacious and continued to spiral its way up the metal grates.

I am not tenacious. So I got back in the car, cranked down the AC, and continued on my way.

donut city

That early Sunday morning, all the other patrons at Donut City were getting their breakfast to go, which meant that I had the dining room to myself.

And that meant that I had a nice start to the day photographing the place, including the reflection in the display case and also this colorful scene.

heading home

This family had completed their shopping at the courthouse square farmers’ market and were heading home. Eventually. It took a minute to get organized; that one kid on the right sort of had some other plans in mind.

it is very wide

As you can see, Long’s Cemetery is also very wide.

PS – Did you think I could go a whole month (and a 31-day one!) without posting any black and white images? No, I didn’t either. Thank you for your patience. Guess what’s back tomorrow?

a portal in portales

I had to run a little errand over to New Mexico the other day, so naturally I took my camera with me. And look what I found! Yet another photograph-worthy window reflection. (It’s sort of like an obsession, really.) An observant pedestrian stopped while I made the image, but she looked extremely confused about what was going on, which is not all that shocking, if I’m being honest. Normal people probably really don’t stand a few feet from a building and take a photo of it when there’s a whole world going on just across the street!
